We all struggle at times to focus on our current task. Even when we have our priorities set, it can be difficult to overcome anxiety. And we end up procrastinating while we mentally jump back and forth between tasks. In this situation, the most important thing is to focus on one thing at a time. Now let's try to understand why this is important and how you can manage your tasks efficiently.

To be more productive, you need to know how to divide your time between deliverables and activities

  • In general, a deliverable is a complete product delivered to a hypothetical customer, as the name implies.
  • An activity, on the other hand, is as simple as a task that's identified, assigned, executed, and controlled, often as part of a deliverable.

Activities are usually repetitive and have a deadline. And they often require less focus than deliverables. Because deliverables, contrarily, need much planning and focus.

Now, keeping this distinction in mind, Try to remember what kind of tasks you usually feel more anxious about. Activities can put pressure on you because of deadlines you have to meet, while deliverables, on the other hand, can make you anxious because there are no deadlines to rely on.

The following steps will help you overcome this kind of anxiety.

  1. Make a list of everything you have to do and set the difference between activities and deliverables.
  2. Then, start with the tasks that require the less time. Don’t forget to mark them, after completing. Visualizing what you have accomplished is also very important. Achieving a series of small successes throughout the day can boost your productivity and your mindset.
  3. Now that you left your anxiety behind and started getting things done, take an activity or deliverable from your priority list and focus on it. The positive mindset and productivity boost you gained earlier, will help you focus. And don’t forget to focus on one thing at a time.

By following these simple rules, you’ll increase your productivity and get better and better at managing your tasks.
