Notion is an amazing productivity and note-taking web application where you can manage your tasks, track your projects, create to-do lists, bookmark websites, and much more. In this short video, I'll show you how to quickly create a class syllabus so your students can access it anywhere, anytime. Let's get started.
First, log in to your Notion account and click on the "plus" button to create a new page. Name the page, and select "Template" from the drop-down menu. You will see a variety of templates to choose from, including a "Syllabus" template. Once you have selected the template, you will be taken to a pre-formatted syllabus page. You can edit the title, add your class name, and input the course description. You can also add sections for important dates, such as the start and end date of the class, as well as any important deadlines. If you see a section you don't need, select the six dots and click on Delete. You can also press the delete key on your keyboard.
Next, edit the class schedule section. Here at the top, students can switch between the different views. Additionally, they can also filter, sort, or search within the schedule section. This feature becomes useful when they want to check when the assignments are due or when they're looking for the topic of the next lesson. You can also add a section for your grading policy, including how grades will be determined and any assignments or projects that will be graded.
Finally, you can add a section for any policies or procedures, such as attendance, late work, and academic integrity. Once you have finished editing the syllabus, you can share it with your students by copying the link and sending it to them via email or posting it on your class website.
With Notion, your class syllabus will always be up-to-date and easily accessible for your students. Thanks for watching! Come back for more tutorials.
