How to Convert a Script into an Engaging Video with AI (in Seconds!)

Turn your texts, PPTs, PDFs or URLs to video - in minutes.

If you've ever wanted to quickly generate a video from a script, I'm going to show you how right now.
Note: you'll need at least the Synthesia Starter plan to follow these steps.
Step 1: Prepare Your Script
I'm guessing you already have a script—otherwise, you wouldn’t be here! If your script is well-structured into paragraphs, you’re good to go. But if it’s not, I recommend splitting it into clear, digestible paragraphs.
You’ll understand why in just a second.
Step 2: Open Synthesia AI Video Assistant
Head over to Synthesia. Once you’re in the Synthesia dashboard, go to the top and click on AI Video Assistant. Now, you’ll see a few different options at the top: File, Prompt, and Script.
Since we already have a script, we’ll select Script and paste it in.

Remember when I mentioned digestible paragraphs? Here’s why: Synthesia automatically breaks your script into different scenes based on paragraphs.
Each paragraph becomes its own scene. If you remove a paragraph, you’ll notice the number of scenes decreases.
If your content feels too dense, break it into smaller chunks for better flow.
Step 3: Choose a Template
Below the script box, you’ll see the Template section. This is where you select the style of your video.
Synthesia offers a variety of templates—I'm choosing Sleek Corporate for this example.
When you pick a template, Synthesia will show you the different scene layouts that will be used in your video.
Once you’ve found a template you like, click Use Template.

Step 4: Customize Your Brand Kit
Next, we have the Brand Kit section. This lets you set your colors, fonts, and avatar to maintain a consistent look in every video.
You can create your own brand kit or use a pre-existing one. Here, I’m using the Synthesia company brand kit.

Step 5: Adjust Additional Parameters
You’ll see a few more settings:
- Objective: Define what the video is for.
- Audience: Specify who will be watching.
- Language: Defaults to the language of your script, but you can change it.
- Speaker and Tone: Adjust the delivery style—friendly, serious, etc.
For this demo, I’m setting the tone to serious and clicking Create Video.

Step 6: Review the Video Structure
Once Synthesia processes the script, it generates a video structure. Each paragraph is assigned to a scene. At the top, you’ll see two buttons:
- Generate Video – instantly produces the video.
- Continue in Editor – allows full customization.
Since everything in Synthesia is customizable, I’ll click Continue in Editor to show you what you can tweak.
Step 7: Editing Your Video
Inside the Editor, you’ll see all your scenes on the left. At the bottom, you can preview the video.
Adjusting the Script
Want to make last-minute script changes? No problem. Just click into the text and edit it. For example, instead of “huge”, I can type “massive”, and it updates instantly.

Customizing the Video
Everything here is editable:
- Music: Remove or change it.
- Colors & Fonts: Match your brand.
- Layouts: Swap out scene designs.
- Logos & Avatars: Move or resize elements.
- Backgrounds: Choose from a library of designed spaces.
Step 8: Fine-Tune Animations
While previewing, you’ll notice animations. These are controlled by Triggers, which let you time when elements appear.
For example, if I want my logo to appear later in the video, I can simply drag its trigger to the word “powerful” in the script.
You can also adjust animation direction, duration, and speed.

Step 9: Change the Avatar
By default, the video uses an avatar, but you can swap it for another one.
Some avatars have a purple icon, meaning they are expressive avatars that adjust their facial expressions and tone based on the script.
I’ll swap mine to show you how easy it is!

Step 10: Generate Your Final Video
Once you’re happy with everything, click Generate in the top right corner. Synthesia will process the video, apply lip-syncing, and finalize all elements. And that’s it!

And that that’s it! That's how you convert a script into a video using Synthesia's AI Video Assistant!
