Synthesia or Colossyan – which one offers better voices?

Both Synthesia and Colossyan offer a large selection of languages for text-to-speech voiceovers - 130+ and 110+, respectively.

Additionally, both platforms offer the ability for users to upload audio files with custom voiceovers (for corporate/enterprise plans) and clone their voices.

Both tools provide auto-captioning, video translation, and AI script generation features, simplifying the process for users to create scripts and captions for videos, and to translate their video content.

Making videos with Synthesia and Colossyan

Both Synthesia and Colossyan platforms offer a substantial number of video editing features: a screen recorder, PPT uploads, animations, transitions, aspect ratios and video analytics. These features enable users to create videos from start to finish in one tool without prior video editing experience.

However, the difference in video rendering time is quite drastic, with Synthesia generating 40 seconds of video in roughly 5 minutes, and Colossyan taking more than 10 minutes.

Both Synthesia and Colossyan offer an extensive media library to allow better video customization. Synthesia comes up on top with a slightly larger selection of music, stock videos, as well as stickers and GIFs, which Colossyan does not currently support.

Do both platforms offer templates?

While both Synthesia and Colossyan offer custom brand templates for enterprise users, Colossyan falls short with pre-designed stock templates.

Synthesia, on the other hand, offers 65+ pre-designed and fully-customizable video templates for a range of use cases, from microlearning, to explainer videos, to corporate videos.

Synthesia's security & ethics

In contrast, Synthesia has a strict content moderation policy (automated & manual), SSO., and is GDPR compliant. The platform also recently became SOC 2 Type II certified to enable faster procurement and heightened security.

Colossyan's security & ethics

Colossyan does moderate the content produced on the platform, but during testing some profane phrases bypassed the moderation process.

With regards to the security of the platform itself, Colossyan does offer Single Sign-On (SSO), but does not seem to be SOC compliant. This can stand in the way of big enterprises using the software.

How does the customer service compare?

Looking at the most trusted software rating platform (G2), ratings for both Synthesia and Colossyan are excellent - 4.7/5 and 4.7/5 respectively. Synthesia does have more reviews, though - 1100+ compared to Colossyan's 300+.

With regards to customer support, Synthesia offers support for all users both by chat and email, whereas Colossyan's support is currently offered to Pro and Enterprise users only.

Both Synthesia and Colossyan have dedicated Customer Success Managers (CSMs) for Corporate plan users.
