Synthesia or Rephrase – which one offers better voices?

Both Synthesia and Rephrase offer text-to-speech voiceover generation. Synthesia offers support for 130+ languages, while Rephrase only supports 15+. Synthesia also offers the ability to upload a custom voiceover file and clone a voice to create text-to-speech voiceovers, while Rephrase does not currently offer this.

Synthesia offers auto-captioning, making it easy for users to generate captions for audio or video content. Rephrase does not specify if it offers auto-captioning or auto-translation as features.

Synthesia STUDIO, in turn, offers a lot of features that any modern video editor includes: a screen recorder, animations, transitions, PPT uploads, aspect ratios and video analytics.

Making videos with Rephrase

Rephrase's website does not provide a lot of information about the Rephrase Studio Platform or its features. Based on their promo video, the video editor is quite limited, with no options to add animations, transitions, screen recordings, or change aspect ratios.

The video rendering time could not be measured for Rephrase, as it is impossible to get access to the Studio Platform without talking to sales.

Want to add multimedia?

Due to the lack of information or access to Rephrase's Studio Platform, it's unclear whether or not it features stock media, and how extensive the potential media library is.

In contrast, Synthesia offers a full range of media options: images, videos, music, stickers, GIFs, and option to upload your own media.

Do both platforms offer templates?

Compared to Synthesia, Rephrase's video template selection is limited, offering only 8 pre-designed templates.

Synthesia also offers a custom brand template feature for enterprise clients. It's unclear whether or not Rephrase offers a similar solution.

Rephrase’s security & ethics

As of March 2023, Rephrase does not seem to moderate the content produced on the platform, which can lead to harmful uses of the technology, such as misinformation, disinformation, harassment, and more.

With regards to the security of the platform itself, Rephrase does not offer Single Sign-On (SSO), but is SOC 2 Type II compliant.

Synthesia’s security & ethics

In contrast, Synthesia has a strict content moderation policy (automated & manual), as well as SSO. The platform recently became SOC 2 Type II certified.

How does the customer service compare?

Looking at the most trusted software rating platform (G2), ratings for Synthesia are excellent - 4.8/5 with 1000+ reviews. In contrast, Rephrase has 39 reviews, coming in at 4.7/5.

With regards to customer support, Synthesia offers support for all users both by chat and email. We could not find any information about Rephrase's customer support.

Both Synthesia and Rephrase also have dedicated Customer Success Managers (CSMs) for Corporate/Pro plan users.
